Latest EC2/BIG-NSE retreat took place last week (Th./Fr. June 15/16)!

Every year, all EC2/ PhD students and their supervisors meet in a nice Hotel outside of Berlin in order to present the progress of their research.

Except for a couple of students who could not come, all EC2/BIG-NSE PhD students and several of their supervisors met at the Hotel Döllnsee, two hours away from Berlin, for our annual retreat.
The weather was quite good most of the time, and the participants could enjoy again the gorgeous venue. This year again the retreat could take place in presence with about 45 participants.

PhD students of batches WS20 and WS21 gave very nice presentations, all followed by very interesting discussions. We even had a special guest this year: Dr. Benjamin Steininger, cultural theorist, historian of science and technology, and curator, currently working as a postdoc researcher at the Max Planck Institute for the History of Science, Berlin Dahlem and member of the Cluster of Excellence UniSysCat. He presented a planned workshop series wiith our doctorakl students, on the history of catalysis in the modern era and its impact on societies and ecologies on a planetary scale. His talk led to very intersting discussion with audience too. The full program can be found here. Pictures of the event can be found here. We hope to be able to have a similar retreat again next year!
