N° 5
Date finished: Dec. 2010
Batch: SS07
Country of origin: Germany
Supervisor(s): Prof. Scheffler (FHI), Dr. Reuter (FHI), Prof. Schöll (TU)
Area PhD: Coupled first-principles statistical mechanics and continuum fluidphase approach to heterogeneous catalysis
Present occupation:
01/2021 - now: Group Leader at Fritz-Haber-Institut der Max-Planck-Gesellschaft
01/2019 - now: UniSysCat group leader; project leader of two EC2/BIG-NSE students: Sina Doraj (WS19) and Younes Abdollahi (WS20)
Current research field: Sebastian is part of the Theory Department at the FHI, where the focus is on interfaces with heterogeneous catalysis, including electrocatalysis, while working primarily on computer simulations. He leads the group "Multiscale Modeling from the Electron to the Reactor," focusing on method and software development to connect electronic structure simulations with the macroscopic behavior of catalytic systems, covering areas like reaction mechanisms, kinetic simulations, and reactor modeling.
Previous occupation:
06/2014 - 12/2020: ECMath group leader at Fachbereich Mathematik/Informatik of FU-Berlin. Group: Artificial Photosynthesis/Scientific Computing
10/2011 - 05/2014: PostDoc at TU Munich
