From 5 to 5:20 pm, Meng-Yang Ye will first give a talk about "Transition metal intercalated poly(heptazine imides) for electro/photocatalytic water splitting " (see abstract here). Her talk will be followed by a Q/A session, as usual. Meng-Yang is an EC2/BIG-NSE PhD student from the WS17 batch. She was born in Henan, China and obtained her bachelor in material science (B.Sc.) at the Tianjin Chengjian University, then her master in material science (M.Sc.) at the Tianjin University. After the BIG-NSE "Initial Phase" she joined the research group of Arne Thomas in Jan. 2018 and is currently finishing writing her PhD under his supervision. She was funded by a mix of BIG-NSE scholarship and EC2 position from Oct. 2017 to Dec. 2020, then recently started pre-working on her future post-doc position at the AK Kraehnert (BasCat/TU Berlin).
After her talk, expectedly between 5:30 and 5:50 pm, Jin Yang will give a presentation with the title "Protonated imine-linked covalent organic frameworks for photocatalytic hydrogen evolution" (see abstract here) also followed by a Q/A session. Jin belongs to the WS18 batch of EC2/BIG-NSE, is currently writing his PhD under the supervision of Arne Thomas, and is funded by a CSC scholarship. He gained his Bachelor degree in Chemical engineering at the Hebei University of Technoloy in the Tianjin province. After this, he moved to Beijing and finished his Master studies as a joint student at the Institute of Process Engineering, Chinese Academy of Sciences and Tianjin University. He joined Arne Thomas' group in January 2019 just after the EC2/BIG-NSE 2018 initial phase.
The EC2/BIG-NSE symposium represents a new series of scientific presentations given by our EC2/BIG-NSE PhD students (see schedule of the coming months here).
In the coming months, on several Wednesday afternoons, two students will thus give an online talk from approximately5-6 pm (20 min presentation each + 10 mn Q/A).
The symposium will take place online using Zoom. The access to the event will be restricted to members of UniSysCat. The Zoom Link will be sent to them a fews days prior to the meeting.
