Next EC2/BIG-NSE symposium on Wednesday, August 18, from 5 to 6 pm

Vishal Budhija (WS19 batch, Schwalbe group) and Kuheli Dutta (WS19 batch, Ray group), present the progress of their PhD work

The first talk will be given from 5 to approximately 5:20 pm by Vishal Budhija about "Synthesis and reactivity of heterobimetallic complexes" (see abstract here). His talk will be followed by a Q/A session, as usual. Vishal is an EC2/BIG-NSE PhD student from the WS19 batch. He is currently writing his PhD under the supervision of Dr. Matthias Schwalbe. He comes from Bhiwani a small town in north India. He did his bachelor studies at the University of Delhi, and then joined the Indian Institute of Technology Indore for his master's studies. He started his PhD in June 2019 and in Oct. 2019 joined EC2/BIG-NSE as a fellow.

After his talk, expectedly from approximately 5:30 to 5:50 pm, Kuheli Dutta will give a talk about "Iron and cobalt complexes in Hbbpya ligand scaffold: Mechanistic investigation and spectroscopic trapping of reactive intermediates" (see abstract here). Her talk will also be followed by a Q/A session. Kuheli is an EC2/BIG-NSE PhD student from the WS19 batch as well. She is also currently writing her PhD thesis under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Kallol Ray (HUB) and Prof. Dr. Holger Dau (FUB) and is funded by an EC2/BIG-NSE scholarship. She comes from Kolkata, India. She studied chemistry at the Presidency University to accomplish her bachelor studies, and then changed to Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur where she completed her master's studies in Chemistry. After the EC2/BIG-NSE initial phase at the end of 2019, she started her PhD in January 2020.

The EC2/BIG-NSE symposium represents a new series of scientific presentations given by our EC2/BIG-NSE PhD students (see schedule of the coming months here). On Wednesday afternoons, two students give an online talk from approximately 5-6 pm (20 min presentation each + 10 mn Q/A). The symposium takes place online using Zoom. The access to the event is restricted to members of UniSysCat. The Zoom Link is sent to them a few days before symposium date.

Looking forward to welcoming you at the next symposium!
